Freshwater fishing is enjoyed by people of all walks of life. From fishermen that are looking to hook a trophy fish to hang from their wall to the lone fisherman who is seeking a day of relaxation out on the lake, freshwater fishing is something that everybody can partake in. FreshwaterFishingSupply wants to bring the joy of fishing to everyone, which is why we provide a wide range of quality fishing gear, tools and accessories for all types of anglers.

The bass is one of the most popular freshwater fish and can be found in lakes, streams and ponds across North America. Known for putting up a fight once hooked and for making a tasty meal, the Largemouth bass and Smallmouth bass are two of the most sought after species of bass. Both Largemouth and Smallmouth bass can be found in a variety of freshwater environments ranging from muddy streams to clear lakes and ponds. When fishing for either Largemouth bass or Smallmouth bass, be sure to look around structures in the water, such as logs, brush, ledges and underneath bridges, as both types of bass like to take cover in such areas.

Another common freshwater fish is the bluegill. Many fishermen enjoy fishing for bluegill because they are easy to locate and are found in large numbers throughout many creeks, rivers and lakes. During the early spring and summer months bluegill can be found in shallow waters near the surface where they feed but as the temperature rises and the late summer months approach, bluegill move into deeper, cooler waters. Bluegill can also be spotted near the shore around docks and trees, which make them a perfect catch if you plan to fish from the shore.

The crappie is another favorite freshwater fish for many fishermen. Black crappie are often found near vegetation and are usually located in deeper and cooler waters than white crappie, which tend to live in creek pools and slow moving streams and rivers. No matter which type of crappie you are after, the best place to look for them is near logs and in lake pockets that have a large brush cover as crappie tend to hide under such structures.

Perhaps one of the most sought after of all freshwater fish is the salmon. Although it is the smallest of all Pacific Ocean salmon, the Pink salmon is the most abundant and can be found in cooler freshwaters ranging from California to Canada and the Great Lakes. Weighing between ten and twenty pounds, the Chum or Dog salmon is the second most popular salmon. Most fishermen fish for Chum salmon during winter months such as November and December. The largest of all Pacific Ocean salmon is the Chinook or King salmon. Because of its large size, the King salmon is a favorite among sport fishermen and can be found in many freshwater bodies from San Francisco to Alaska.
